Shipping & payment
Kombucha is live and chilled, so it does not travel to you like an ordinary parcel. In Prague it is delivered by our own driver, to the rest of the country it goes by chilled Cool balík parcel, and from 12 bottles shipping is free. Here is everything you need to know before you order.
In a nutshell
- Shipping 150 CZK, free from 12 bottles – in Prague and in the rest of the Czech Republic.
- Prague: our driver, on working days between 1 pm and 5 pm, delivery usually within 2 working days.
- Rest of the Czech Republic: chilled Cool balík parcel (COOL Balík, s.r.o.), delivery usually within 4 working days.
- Free pickup in Klecany, on working days between 9.30 am and 3.30 pm by prior arrangement.
- Online payment: card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Klarna. We do not offer cash on delivery or bank transfer.
- Straight into the fridge after receipt (2–6 °C); on delivery there are always at least 7 days left before the use-by date on the label.
The conditions below apply to consumers. If you buy as a business (you state a company ID or company name in the order), the deviations under Article 13 of the Terms and Conditions apply – in particular, the risk of damage to the goods passes to you when the goods are handed to the first carrier, or for Prague delivery by our own driver when you take over the shipment, and obvious defects, damage and quantity discrepancies must be reported no later than 24 hours after receipt.
Where we deliver
We deliver across the whole Czech Republic – in Prague by our own delivery, to the rest of the country by chilled Cool balík parcel. We do not yet deliver outside the Czech Republic; as soon as we launch delivery to other countries, we will say so here.
Shipping cost
For a shipment delivered within the Czech Republic we charge shipping of 150 CZK. For orders of 12 or more bottles of kombucha, shipping is free – the same in Prague and in the rest of the Czech Republic. What counts is the number of bottles that arrive in your shipment: all of them count, including the free extra bottles with a subscription and the bottles in boxes and sets. The 12-pack and 36-pack subscriptions therefore have free shipping, the 6-pack does not. The home kombucha brewing kit and gift cards do not count towards the 12-bottle limit. If the order contains both kombucha and the kit, we charge shipping only once, and with 12 or more bottles of kombucha it is free for the kit as well. For a shipment without bottles the 12-bottle limit does not apply: for the kit on its own we charge 150 CZK, and you will see the shipping price of a physical gift card on its own at checkout. Details are below. Shipping prices include VAT and you will always see the price for your order at checkout before you place it.

Prague – JZT's own delivery. We bring the bottles straight from our production site in Klecany near Prague, on working days between 1 pm and 5 pm, usually within 2 working days of order confirmation. We carry them in thermal boxes with cooling packs so they stay cold the whole way. We will e-mail you when your order is dispatched and on which day we will bring it. Our own delivery covers orders to Prague; you will see which delivery methods are available for your address at checkout.
Rest of the Czech Republic – chilled Cool balík parcel. The shipment is delivered by COOL Balík, s.r.o., company ID 14180138, registered office Zahradní 359, 252 61 Jeneč, using the Cool balík service – it travels chilled the whole way, usually within 4 working days to the address you provide. We will e-mail you when it is dispatched. We do not offer the carrier's parcel lockers or pickup points – kombucha has to stay cold.
Home kombucha brewing kit. Shipping costs 150 CZK per order (Article 6.2(c) of the Terms and Conditions). The kit does not count towards the 12-bottle limit for free shipping; if you order 12 or more bottles of kombucha with it, we do not charge shipping for the kit either. We will e-mail you about the dispatch of the kit and its delivery date. After receipt, put the live SCOBY culture with starter in its unopened packaging in the fridge at 2–6 °C as soon as possible, until you start your first batch.
Gift cards. We send the electronic gift card by e-mail right after payment and do not charge shipping for it. We print and send a physical gift card only on request, separately by post; you will see the shipping price at checkout before you place the order. You receive the card code by e-mail right after payment, so you can give it as a gift even before the printed card arrives; we will e-mail you about the dispatch of the card and its delivery date. By arrangement you can also collect it in person at our premises.
Pickup – Klecany near Prague. You can collect your order free of charge at our premises at Zdibsko 615, 250 67 Klecany, P3 park, hall 4 – look for the door marked “Výdej zboží”. We hand over orders on working days between 9.30 am and 3.30 pm, always by prior arrangement: write to info@jztferments.cz or call the phone number given in the Terms and Conditions. You pay for the order online in advance; there is no cash or card payment on site. Please wait for the e-mail saying your order is ready. We keep it ready for you in the cold and agree the pickup time with you by e-mail. If you do not collect the goods and we cannot agree on an alternative date even after we send you an e-mail reminder, we will withdraw from the contract and refund the amount paid without undue delay, within 14 days at the latest, in the same way we received it (Article 6.2(e) of the Terms and Conditions).
Delivery times
We process orders on working days. In Prague we usually deliver within 2 working days of order confirmation and in the rest of the Czech Republic usually within 4 working days of order confirmation. We deliver the goods no later than 30 days after the conclusion of the contract (Section 2159 of the Civil Code, Article 6.3 of the Terms and Conditions). If delivery is delayed for operational reasons (public holidays, extreme temperatures), we will let you know by e-mail; if we fail to deliver even within an additional reasonable period you grant us, you may withdraw from the contract. You may also withdraw without an additional period if we refuse delivery, if it is obvious from the circumstances that we will not deliver the goods, or if you told us before the contract was concluded that delivery at a specific time is essential for you (Article 6.3 of the Terms and Conditions). In that case we will refund the amount paid without undue delay, within 14 days at the latest, in the same way we received it.
Storage after delivery
After receipt, put the bottles in the fridge as soon as possible and store them at 2–6 °C. Kombucha is alive – outside the cold it keeps working, so open the bottle carefully. Consume an opened bottle within 24 hours. The label of every bottle shows the use-by date (“Spotřebujte do” / “Use by”); on the day of delivery there are always at least 7 days left. Natural sediment, haze or pieces of culture in the bottle are not a defect – kombucha is live and unpasteurised.
Did it arrive broken, leaking or warm?
On receipt, please check that the packaging is neither damaged nor wet. As a consumer, the risk of damage to the goods passes to you when you take over the shipment (Section 2121(1) of the Civil Code; for a business buyer, when the goods are handed to the first carrier – Article 13.2 of the Terms and Conditions). You may refuse to accept a damaged shipment. Or accept it and report the damage on the spot – to our driver for Prague delivery, or by drawing up a damage report with the courier for Cool balík. Even without a damage report you keep your rights arising from defective performance (Article 10 of the Terms and Conditions).
If you only discover a broken or leaking bottle after unpacking, or if the shipment arrived obviously warm, write to us as soon as possible (ideally within 24 hours) at info@jztferments.cz – include your order number and attach photos of the shipment and the bottles. It is not a condition of the complaint, but it helps us when dealing with the carrier. At your choice we will send you a new bottle, give you a reasonable discount, or refund the money for the defective goods. Do not send broken bottles back; photos are enough. Cancelling an order and uncollected shipments
You can cancel your order free of charge at any time until we dispatch it – that is, before we hand it to the carrier or to our driver. Just write to info@jztferments.cz and state your order number. We will refund the amount paid without undue delay, within 14 days at the latest, in the same way we received it.
Kombucha is a food with a short shelf life, so it is not possible to withdraw from the contract without giving a reason within 14 days (Section 1837(e) of the Civil Code). Defective goods are handled as a complaint. For goods that are not chilled food – for example the home kombucha brewing kit or a gift card not yet redeemed – the right to withdraw within 14 days applies; the period runs from the day you receive the goods, for an electronic gift card from the day we e-mail you the code. The only exception is the live SCOBY culture with starter from the home brewing kit: once you break its packaging we cannot take it back for hygiene reasons (Section 1837(g) of the Civil Code); the rest of the kit can be returned. Bottles with a custom label made to order cannot be returned either (Section 1837(d) of the Civil Code). If you do not accept the shipment even though we informed you of the delivery in advance, you are in breach of the obligation to take over the goods (Section 2118 of the Civil Code). This does not apply if you refuse the shipment because it was damaged, obviously warm or defective for another reason on our side – in that case we refund the full amount paid including shipping, or by agreement send the goods again at our expense. Chilled goods that come back to us with the cold chain broken cannot be shipped again; in that case we withdraw from the contract and refund the amount paid – the price of the goods and shipping – less the costs actually incurred by the failed delivery, with a deduction of no more than 150 CZK. We set these costs off against the refund and will document their amount on request. We send the money without undue delay, within 14 days at the latest, in the same way we received it. If we agree on a repeat delivery, we may make it conditional on paying the shipping in advance.
Payment
You pay online when completing your order. For a subscription, the price of each further delivery is charged automatically to the payment method you saved with the first order, on the day the order is created; we inform you of each upcoming delivery by e-mail in advance (Article 7.3 of the Terms and Conditions). We accept payment cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal and Klarna. We do not offer cash on delivery or bank transfer; you also pay online in advance for an order you collect yourself in Klecany. Payment via Klarna is a separate contractual relationship between you and Klarna Bank AB (publ), registration number 556737-0431, registered office Sveavägen 46, 111 34 Stockholm, Sweden, under its terms, which Klarna shows you before you complete the payment. Payment via PayPal is provided by PayPal (Europe) S.à r.l. et Cie, S.C.A., registered office 22–24 Boulevard Royal, L-2449 Luxembourg, Luxembourg.
You enter a gift card code or discount code at checkout. One discount code can be applied per order and discounts cannot be combined unless we expressly state otherwise. The 10% discount code for subscribing to the newsletter is valid until revoked, one use per customer, on one-off purchases only, cannot be combined with other discounts and does not apply to shipping – the discount is calculated from the price of the goods. We do not require a minimum purchase value for this code, but it cannot be applied to subscription deliveries (Article 5.4 of the Terms and Conditions). Prices include VAT; we are registered for VAT and will send you the tax invoice by e-mail.
Subscription
We dispatch subscription deliveries at the chosen interval – every week, every 2, 3 or 4 weeks – under the same shipping conditions as one-off orders (150 CZK, free from 12 bottles). Every subscription box has extra bottles free: with the 6-pack you pay for 5 bottles and get one free, with the 12-pack you pay for 10 bottles and get 2 free, with the 36-pack you pay for 30 bottles and get 6 free. That is exactly why a subscription is agreed for at least 3 boxes. During the first three boxes you can adjust the flavours and the delivery interval at any time and skip one delivery; the subscription cannot be cancelled during this time. The exceptions are cases where we materially breach our obligations (for example repeatedly fail to deliver the ordered goods), where we stop offering the goods, or where we change the price or terms of the subscription – in these cases you can cancel the subscription even during the first three boxes, without any penalty (Articles 7.4 and 7.10 of the Terms and Conditions). After the third box you can cancel the subscription at any time before the date of the next order. The subscription cannot be paused and the box size cannot be changed in a running subscription – if you want a different size, end the current subscription after the third box and start a new one (Article 7.5 of the Terms and Conditions). If a chosen flavour is out of stock on the day the order is created, we will offer you a substitute by e-mail; if you write to us within 24 hours that you do not agree with it, we cancel the delivery, refund the price within 14 days at the latest and this delivery does not count towards the three boxes (Article 7.7 of the Terms and Conditions). If we cannot agree
Write to us first at info@jztferments.cz – we resolve most things straight away. If we cannot reach an agreement, you can turn to the Czech Trade Inspection Authority, Central Inspectorate – ADR Department, Gorazdova 1969/24, 120 00 Prague 2, company ID 00020869, adr@coi.gov.cz, https://adr.coi.gov.cz. An application can be filed within one year of the day you first exercised your right with us.
